About Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy
The Ottawa Youth Orchestra Academy is an arts charity in the Hawthorne Meadows - Sheffield Glen area of Ottawa. It provides ensemble training and performance opportunities for young players, with programs that take in preschoolers, kindergarten children, young learners and beginners as well as intermediate and advanced youth.
Musical development at the academy runs alongside its performance side. Music theory is part of the offering, and sectional coaching supports players within their ensembles. Young musicians can take part in auditions, and a concerto competition gives them a further chance to perform. Public concerts present the results of that work to an audience.
Financial aid and scholarships are available to help with the cost of taking part.
