TD Place is the stadium and arena complex at the heart of Lansdowne Park, hosting CFL football, OHL hockey, pro soccer, pro basketball, concerts and community events through the whole year.

Whether you're catching an Ottawa REDBLACKS game on a Friday night, watching the Ottawa 67's on the ice, or attending a concert, this guide covers what to know before your visit, from parking and transit to seating, dining and venue history. A new event centre is also under construction at Lansdowne (the Lansdowne 2.0 project, covered near the end of the guide), so check the notes on the build before you go.

Understanding TD Place: Stadium vs Arena

TD Place Stadium and Arena complex at Lansdowne Park Image: The TD Place complex featuring both the outdoor stadium and indoor arena at Lansdowne.

TD Place isn't a single venue but a sports and entertainment complex comprising two distinct facilities:

TD Place Stadium Details

The outdoor stadium seats 24,000 fans for football. It sits beside the historic Aberdeen Pavilion, which is a separate building on the Lansdowne grounds, so a visit can mix modern sports with a heritage landmark.

Stadium FeatureDetails
Capacity24,000 (football)
Field typeArtificial turf
Address1015 Bank Street (second entrance at 1525 Princess Patricia Way)
Naming rightsTD Bank Group

Stadium capacity changes for concerts and for soccer, so check the event page for the number that applies. The north side stands are due to be replaced as part of Lansdowne 2.0 (see the history section), which will reduce stadium capacity for the 2028 and 2029 CFL seasons.

Best Stadium Experiences:

  • CFL football games (June-November)
  • Summer concerts
  • CPL and NSL soccer matches
  • Special events and community celebrations

TD Place Arena Details

The indoor arena opened in December 1967 as the Ottawa Civic Centre and was renamed TD Place Arena when it reopened after the Lansdowne redevelopment in 2014. Its capacity depends on the event (for example, hockey, basketball or a concert stage), so check the event page for the number that applies.

The Ottawa Charge (PWHL) used the arena for two seasons, then moved to Canadian Tire Centre for 2026-27. The arena is planned to be demolished after the 2027 CFL season, as the Lansdowne 2.0 project replaces it with a new event centre.

The 2014 Redevelopment

The Lansdowne redevelopment, led by the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) in a partnership with the City of Ottawa, rebuilt the stadium as TD Place Stadium and renovated the arena as TD Place Arena. It also added shops, restaurants and public space, and it preserved the Aberdeen Pavilion.

Lansdowne 2.0 (2025-2031)

City Council approved the Lansdowne 2.0 plan in November 2025 at a reported cost of about $418.8 million. The work is phased, and the dates below are the City's planned timeline, so they may shift.

PhaseTimingWhat it covers
Phase 1Q4 2025 - Q3 2028New Event Centre. Steel erection began in October 2026
Phase 2Q4 2028 - Q4 2030North Side Stands. The north stands and arena come down after the 2027 CFL season
Phase 3From 2031Mixed-use development, including two residential towers

What it means for visitors: the Great Lawn and sledding hill are closed during construction. Stadium capacity is expected to drop to around 14,000 for the 2028 and 2029 seasons while the north stands are rebuilt. Reports on the new Event Centre's seat count differ (roughly 5,850 to 6,600), so check the City of Ottawa's Lansdowne 2.0 page for the current figure.

FAQ

Q: How much is parking at TD Place?

Regular underground rates are $4 an hour Monday to Thursday and $5 an hour Friday to Sunday, with a $25 daily maximum, plus taxes and fees. Event pricing varies. There is no underground parking on REDBLACKS game days, and event parking is pre-purchased through Ticketmaster with no in-and-out access. Other lots near Lansdowne are listed on tdplace.ca's parking page.

Q: What is the seating capacity at TD Place Stadium?

TD Place Stadium holds 24,000 fans for football. Capacity for concerts and soccer depends on the set-up, so check the event page. The stadium's capacity is expected to fall to roughly 14,000 for the 2028 and 2029 CFL seasons while the north stands are rebuilt under Lansdowne 2.0.

Q: What is the capacity of TD Place Arena?

Arena capacity depends on the event, whether hockey, basketball or a concert stage layout, and published figures differ between sources. Check the team or event page for the number that applies. The arena is planned to be demolished after the 2027 CFL season and replaced by the new Event Centre.

Q: Which sports teams play at TD Place?

TD Place is home to five teams: Ottawa REDBLACKS (CFL football), Ottawa 67's (OHL hockey), Atlético Ottawa (CPL soccer), Ottawa Rapid FC (NSL women's soccer) and Ottawa BlackJacks (CEBL basketball). Together their seasons provide action for most of the year. The PWHL's Ottawa Charge used the arena for two seasons and moved to Canadian Tire Centre for 2026-27.

Q: Is there an O-Train stop at TD Place?

There is no O-Train station at TD Place. Most visitors connect to OC Transpo Routes 6 and 7, which stop at Lansdowne, and an event ticket gives you free OC Transpo travel from 3 hours before to 3 hours after the event (not for the Christmas Market). Check OC Transpo for current routes.

Q: Can I bring a bag to TD Place?

TD Place asks for soft-sided bags that fit under your seat. Clear bags are encouraged and can use a faster entry lane. All bags are searched at the gate. Concerts and other events may add limits, so check the event page before you go.

Q: Are there restaurants at TD Place?

Yes, Lansdowne Park surrounding TD Place has many restaurants, including Craft Beer Market, Milestones, Jack Astor's, Joey Lansdowne, LOCAL Public Eatery and Crust & Crate. Concession stands inside the venues serve standard event fare. For more dining options, the Glebe neighbourhood on Bank Street is a short walk away.

Q: What is the Aberdeen Pavilion?

The Aberdeen Pavilion is an 1898 exhibition building on the Lansdowne grounds, nicknamed the "Cattle Castle." It was designated a National Historic Site in 1983 and is a separate building from the stadium. The outdoor Ottawa Farmers' Market runs in nearby Aberdeen Square on Sundays during its outdoor season.

Q: How early should I arrive for events at TD Place?

Doors typically open 60 minutes before the event, so plan to arrive about that early to allow for parking or transit, bag screening and finding your seats. For concerts and sold-out games, arriving earlier gives you more margin. Check your event page, since times can differ.

Q: Is TD Place accessible?

TD Place offers accessible seating, service animal access and assistive listening through the Audio Everywhere app at some sporting events. Wheelchairs are escort-only and TD Place does not provide wheelchair rentals. Contact the box office at 613-232-6767 ext. 1 or see the accessibility page on tdplace.ca for specific needs.

Q: What happened to the Ottawa Civic Centre?

The Ottawa Civic Centre opened in December 1967 and was renamed TD Place Arena when it reopened after the 2014 Lansdowne redevelopment. It has hosted Ottawa 67's hockey since the beginning, but it is planned to be replaced by a new Event Centre under Lansdowne 2.0.

Q: Can I take the bus to TD Place?

Yes. Routes 6 and 7 stop at TD Place, and a 450-series bus runs on REDBLACKS game days only. Your event ticket gives you free OC Transpo travel from 3 hours before to 3 hours after the event (not the Christmas Market). Check OC Transpo for current routes and times.

Q: What are the best seats at TD Place?

It depends on the event and your budget. For football, lower sideline seats give the closest views and the upper sideline gives a wider overview. For hockey, lower seats at centre ice are the premium choice. Use the Ticketmaster seat map for the exact sections available.

Q: Does TD Place have WiFi?

We could not confirm that TD Place offers free public WiFi, so do not count on it. Mobile service can be slow when a full house is connected, so download your tickets and any event apps before you arrive.

Q: Can I bring my own food or drinks?

No. Outside food and drink are not allowed. Exceptions need written approval 48 business hours in advance, and sealed or empty water bottles are OK. All bags are subject to search at the gate.

Q: How long are REDBLACKS games?

CFL football games typically last about 3 hours including halftime. Add time before and after for Lansdowne's shops, restaurants and pre-game activities.

Q: How long are 67's games?

OHL hockey games typically last 2-2.5 hours including intermissions. The three-period format with two 15-minute intermissions provides time to grab food, visit the team store, or stretch your legs.

Q: Are pets allowed at TD Place?

Only service animals are allowed inside TD Place. Pets are not allowed at events.

Q: What's the difference between TD Place and Canadian Tire Centre?

TD Place (Lansdowne Park, central Ottawa) hosts REDBLACKS, 67's, Atlético, Rapid FC and BlackJacks, offering a walkable urban experience with many nearby restaurants. Canadian Tire Centre (Kanata, west Ottawa) hosts the Ottawa Senators NHL team and major arena concerts, with ample free parking but limited nearby dining.

Q: Is TD Place good for kids?

Yes, many families go. Ottawa 67's games are a popular first live sport for kids, and ticket prices are listed on the team site. Lansdowne Park is also good for pre- and post-game walks, and the restaurants and shops are close.

Q: When is the best time to visit TD Place?

Fall offers the most variety, with REDBLACKS football, 67's hockey and soccer playoffs overlapping. Summer features outdoor events, football, soccer and BlackJacks basketball. Winter is prime 67's hockey season. Each season offers something different at this year-round venue.

Q: Are tickets refundable?

Ticket refund policies vary by event and seller. Check the event's policy and Ticketmaster's help pages before you buy, and note that resale tickets follow the reseller's own rules.

Q: Where can I buy tickets?

Primary ticket sales are through Ticketmaster, team websites (REDBLACKS, 67's, Atlético, Rapid FC, BlackJacks), or the TD Place box office at Gate 3, 1015 Bank Street (613-232-6767 ext. 1). Always purchase from reputable sources to avoid fraudulent tickets.
